Back in 2018, Henry started making delightful posts about training for the Durrell Challenge. Sad to say that I learned today that they won't be continuing with that tradition... which is a huge bummer as I was planning to join this year. These posts really helped motivate a lot of people to get up and get moving. When you have action superstar, Henry Cavill, telling you that his third run, " ...was still pretty rough. With little gains being made each day." It puts some things in perspective. Fitness isn't easy for anyone! He followed that up with some encouragement-
I hope you got out today. If you haven't got out yet, then just go for a short run. Just do anything, anything to get the muscles used that level of running. Don't do what Kal is doing [who is laying on the ground], which is ignoring responsibility." -Henry Cavill
Man do I miss these posts coming regularly... but it's also good to look back at these and be reminded of where I was starting. Ignoring responsibility is something that many people do on a daily basis. We all have responsibility towards our jobs and families... but a lot (including myself) ignore that responsibility to ourselves. My wonderful sister is constantly reminding me to make time for myself which always makes me roll my eyes. How am I supposed to do that with the daily grind?!
This past weekend, my husband took my 5 year old away for the week end to his parent's house... leaving me in quiet and peaceful bliss for two nights. I did a lot of reading, watched a show, ate what I wanted (hooray for a cheat day) and ultimately felt zero responsibility for anything. It. Was. GLORIOUS. However, half way through Saturday... I realized this was the perfect time to take that responsibility for self. So, I pulled out the old resistance bands, tuned into ACHV PEAK on YouTube and completed a 30 minute beginning workout. I've mentioned them before, and will continue to do so as they make fitness easily accessible!

To be honest, while I'm sore today, I feel fantastic. I'm starting to remind my muscles, as Henry says, that yes... my body can move this way even though it screams at me. Entering my 40s has reminded me that I'm not going to recover from exercise as fast as I used to. My arms will probably be sore for the next two days... but you know what? It's a satisfying sore. I'll do some somatic yoga tomorrow with my kiddo and hopefully stretch those pains out. It's little gains!
Packing my Food For Tomorrow
After a relaxation/cheat weekend, it's truly hard to get going for the week tomorrow. However, here I am committing to eating right! So, let's see what I'm packing for breakfast and lunch. I always eat at work in the morning as trying to get my family out the door generally doesn't leave much time for me to eat at home.... I mean.... unless I want to get up another hour early. Let's face it, not all of us are morning people. I'm not - at all. I'm a night owl, and staying up till 1 or 2 am is pretty normal for me, but more on that later.
On the left is what I've packed for breakfast. Yogurt, topped with chia seeds (high in OMEGA3s), and blueberries. On the right, my lunch. Jicama (which I've come to love recently), tabouli hummus, and an oat milk cream cheese + cucumber + low sodium salami + dark bread sandwich.

Are these do-able lunches for you?!
I'll also have a snack of cheese, cashews and rainbow raisins. Dinner will consist of roasted root veggies, jerk chicken, and wild mushroom couscous.
**I'd also like to remind everyone that I'm not a dietician. These items may or may-not fit into YOUR healthy diet. Unfortunately I'm limited on the fresh fruits and veggies I can eat. I'll be discussing this in my next post.
Here is to YOUR CAVILL CHALLENGE!
